It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ana Markovic (baka Anica) 90, of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Ana passed away peacefully on November 2nd, 2022 at Holy Family Home.

Ana was born on March 24th, 1932, in Croatia, to her parents Mijo and Roza Stjepanovic.

In her early life, which she remembered with the fondness, she attended a seamstress school. Soon after, she met her husband Andrija Markovic a tailor by trade. As Andrija was a widower with a small child, Ana happily adopted Andrija’s young daughter Dubravka, and soon had three more children of their own, Jadranko, Nena (passed) and Zvonko.

Throughout her life, Ana lived through many memorable and history changing events including the Civil war in her home country which caused her to come to Canada in 1995 where she made many new friends and memories.

Ana was always the life of a party and she loved to sing and occasionally have a shot of plum brandy.

Ana is predeceased by her husband Andrija, daughter Nena, and granddaughter Marina.

Ana is survived by her daughter Dubravka (Pero) Bukatarevic, her son’s Jadranko (Savka) Markovic, Zvonko (Ika) Markovic, and grandchildren Vesna (Sasa) Todorovic, Zeljko (Olja) Bukatarevic, Greta (Krunoslav) Dzoic, Tanja (Victor) Lopes, and Drazen Markovic. Ana is also survived by her great grandchildren Larisa and Nikola Todorovic, Nada Bukatarevic, and Luka Lopes as well as her sister Mira (Andrija) Djantar, niece Jadranka Karic and great nephew Mirza Karic.

Service will be held at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, on Sunday, November 6th, 2022, at 6:00 pm, followed by a reception. The liturgy will be held on Monday, November 7th, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, followed by interment at 2:00 pm at Glen Eden Cemetery, 4477 Main Street.
