STEFANIA LAPKA

Passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, October 3, 2022 at Palliative Care, St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 80 years.

She was predeceased by her parents Dmytro and Katerina Holowaty.

Stefania is lovingly remembered by her husband; Petro, children; Bohdan, Mike (Kim), Lily (Wayne), grandchildren; Nicholas, Bobby, Rebecca, Stephanie, Kaila (Mike), Melissa, Emily, John, great-grandchildren; Addison, Bradyn, Kion, Levi, Charlotte, Michael and Madison.

Born in Nove Selo, District Liubachiv, raised in Zastavia, Ukraine she met Petro in L’viv and they married.  They came to Canada in 1974 and made a home in Transcona.  Stefania worked at Holy Family Nursing Home until retirement. She loved gardening, cooking and cherished spending time with family and having family gatherings.

She was an active member of All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church and after retirement enjoyed spending weekends with her grandkids at their trailer at Rusulka park in Gimli, Manitoba.

The family especially thanks St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit, CancerCare Manitoba, All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church and Father Taras.

Bohdan Lapka, Mike Lapka, Nicholas MacWilliams, Bobby MacWilliams, Wayne McIlmoyle and Joe Lockhart have the honour of being Pallbearers.

Prayers (Panakhyda) will take place on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. at All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1500 Day Street, Winnipeg and a Funeral Rite Service will take place on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. at All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Interment will follow after the service at Transcona Cemetery, 5014 Dugald Road.
