Auntie Zina my godmother was an exceptional baker. Her baked goods were the best. I absolutely loved her broken glass torte. It was so yummy. Her rhubarb creations were so good. If you mentioned rhubarb she had a recipe for you to try. If there was a shower she was the first to volunteer to bake some goodies.
In addition to baking she was quite the gardener. Her garden was plentiful. She was very proud of her beautiful flowers too and loved showing them off.
Saturday you would find her in front of the tv playing “KingoBingo”! Quite the bingo player. She was very lucky when she played. How did she pick those winning cards?
Tent Saving was a talent of hers that she revealed at Garry and Monica’s Anniversary. Garry and Monica had a party tent set up for their backyard function. A storm with fierce winds hit and all of us hid under the tables except for Auntie Zina. This brave tiny elderly woman was going to save the tent. She grabbed a tent pole and hung on for dear life. Lordy she saved the tent. The wind did not take her or the tent…lol. A memory I will never forget.
She was a treasure. I was so blessed to have her as my godmother.
Auntie Zina left a mark in my heart that will never be erased. You truly were a gem . My memories of you I will cherish forever.
