Obituary of MARIANNE ZAZULAK

Marianne Zazulak
(nee Kostiuk)
1946 - 2022

We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved aunt and dear friend, Marianne Zazulak on Friday August 12, 2022 at Holy Family Home. Marianne was born to Walter and Mary Kostiuk on March 12, 1946. She was one of two children. Elaine, her sister, passed away in 1972 in Quebec.  She is survived by her daughter, Laura (Winnipeg), and her nieces, Diane (Toronto) and Deborah-Joy (Denman Is.)

Marianne, upon graduating with a bachelor of Education degree from the University of Manitoba, taught at the collegiate at the University of Winnipeg, and then moved to teaching adults. She developed a passion for working with women to empower them to embrace life's transitions. As a facilitator, coach and coordinator of work experience at Red River Community College, she led women's life skills and employment groups. She also taught at Headingley Correctional Institution where she tutored men in literacy and English. As a single mother, Marianne worked full-time and raised two children, Greg and Laura.

Later in life, Marianne's son was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident shortly after his last year of high school. This changed Marianne irrevocably. In spite of this, she retained her helpful and sociable nature.

Marianne was a kind and gentle soul. Much like her mother, Mary Kostiuk, Marianne was truly interested in people and a great listener. She had a knack for connecting with people and had an ability to help them with their problems. She was interested in and knowledgeable of all sorts of topics and had an even, non-biased opinion on contemporary matters. Marianne will be remembered as a great conversationalist.

She will be dearly missed. However, we know that she is at peace now and with her son and sister and parents.

There will be no visitation. A burial will take place in the fall at All Saints Cemetery. Details will be posted.
