Obituary of SEAN PATRICK SOUSA

With saddened hearts we announce the tragic passing of our lovely son and brother, Sean Patrick Sousa on August 10,2022.

Sean was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Sean is survived by his mother, Juventina, his father, Cesar and his brothers, Brian and Jason (Riley and nephews Hixon and Henzo); his aunts and uncles, Alda and David, John and Debra, Zelia and Issac, Maria and Durval, Emily and Bernie, Joe and Diane; his cousins, Jenny, Elizebeth, Adrian, Lily, Jackson, Dylan, Ruben, Elizabeth, Debbie, Raquel and Melanie. He is also survived by his love, Beverley Smith.

Sean was born and raised in the Valley Gardens community in Winnipeg. Growing up, he always enjoyed playing with his friends, specifically his friend of 25 years, Aaron Anderlum. He also enjoyed playing soccer and learning the guitar.

Sean was always known as an outgoing and sociable person. He never had problems making friends or connecting with people. With the loving support of his mom, dad and brothers along with these skills, coupled with a big heart, patience and treating everyone, no matter who you were, with dignity and respect served him well on his career path in social work. Starting off at the Elmwood Community Resource Centre, he was provided a springboard into community outreach. In his short time in this career, he became a leader amongst his peers and changed so many lives for the better. In his spare time, Sean enjoyed hiking, camping, cycling, travelling, and spending time with his beloved family and partner.

The family would like to thank Nina Condo of the Elmwood Community Resource Centre, Jamil Mahmood of the Main Street Project and Billy Duberry of Whispering Winds for providing Sean with mentorship and opportunities to serve his community. We would especially also like to thank the members of the Lac Du Bonnet RCMP Detachment, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team and Manitoba Conservation and Parks staff for their compassion and professionalism. Juventina and Cesar would like to thank Emily, Joe, Diane, Durval and Maria for their comfort during this difficult time.

Our family would like to extend our thoughts to Sean’s extended group of family and friends.

The pallbearers will be Brian Sousa, Jason Sousa, Adrian Desjarlais, Jackson Sousa, Aaron Anderlum and Frank Alvarado. The honorary pallbearers are Jorge Torres and Tyler Krasowski.
