Obituary of MARTIAL LAVERGNE

Martial was born in St-Pierre-Jolys on December 6th, 1926, the fifth of seven children and two stepchildren. On June 18th, 1949, he married the love of his life, Aline Hébert. An excellent role model for his children by his strong work ethic and sense of responsibility, Martial, even more importantly, instilled in them a joie de vivre, the importance of family, and an exemplary selflessness. His presence and personality were larger than life, and his unfailing sense of humor and wit brought happiness and lightness to every situation. Martial enjoyed indulging in his own pastimes as well. Throughout the years, he enjoyed playing baseball, golfing, hunting, and fishing. He and Aline were avid travelers, visiting exotic places such as Peru, Africa, Hawaii, as well as spending many a winter in Mesa, Arizona. They also enjoyed countless days at their cottage in Belair, which was one of the many places they shared with family and friends. Martial and Aline were renowned for their generous hospitality and carefree love of joyful get-togethers. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 13th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at l’église St-Eugène, 1007 St. Mary’s Rd., with Father Roland Lanoie officiating.
