Obituary of HONORATO MERLA RUBIANO

Honorato M. Rubiano passed away peacefully on July 25, 2022 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 91 years.  He was predeceased by his parents, Francisco and Nazaria Rubiano.  Honor is survived by his wife, Juanita and daughter, Toni Joyce.  He also leaves behind his sister Marina and several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Born and raised in Bataan, Philippines, Honor graduated from the University of the East with a degree as a Certified Public Accountant.  With a dream to live, work, and build a family in Canada, Honor moved to Winnipeg in the mid ‘70s and settled down as an accountant with Atomic Transportation in 1981 until his retirement in August 1995.

After retirement, he enjoyed keeping active by playing tennis, golfing, walking the dogs, and of course, walking the floors of the casinos.  He will be remembered for his goofy sense of humor, for always having a smile on his face, his love for whistling, and singing Amazing Grace or Que Sera, Sera.  Anyone who knows him will for sure have heard him say at least once his favorite tag line, “that’s life”.

The family would like to thank the quick response of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, 6A South for their kindness and compassion.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 11:00AM with a viewing prior to service starting at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Victory Memorial Church, 249 Arnold Ave. with Fr. Bo Wardzinski presiding.
