MARIA ROSA PUIM RESENDES

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Maria Rosa Puim Resendes. She passed away peacefully with her beloved family by her side on July 3, 2022, in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 90 years.

Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband of 62 years Jose, their twin sons Fernando (Rerie), Manuel (Cindy), their daughter Teresa (Greg), their eight grandchildren Justin, Shara (Grady), Shelby (Michelle), Troy (Vanessa), Chantelle (Kenny), Rhea (Arvin), Cole (Shanley), Keyra (Kalder) and their 3 great grandchildren Wilder, Harlow and Hayden. She also leaves behind her sister Filomena (Jose) Chaves and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her father Jose Monteiro, her mother Maria Puim, her brother Antonio (Gloria) Monteiro, her sister Maria (João) Machado and her beloved infant son Fernando.

Rosa was born and raised in Calheta, Santa Maria, Açores, Portugal. She married Jose on January 9, 1960. Rosa came to Canada with her husband and their 3 children in 1969 in search of a better life. She worked as a textile worker up until retirement and loved making clothes for her children in their early years. She was known for creativity in crocheting and her love for reading. She was a devout Catholic and reflected God’s love through her love for her family and friends. She loved spending time with her family, cooking and having family gatherings. Rosa and Jose enjoyed vacationing in their second home in the Maia, Santa Maria for many blessed years together with family and friends.

Rosa made an impact on everyone that knew her and she will be deeply missed. The family takes comfort in knowing that she is now in God’s hands.

Prayers will take place on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at 7 PM at Immaculate Conception Church, 181 Austin St. N. Funeral mass to take place on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 1 PM, with interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave.
