Obituary of FRANK WEDLAKE

Frank Wedlake Frank Wedlake passed away peacefully at his residence on January 27th, 2013. Dad was predeceased by his beloved wife Marguerite in 2003. He was also predeceased by his brothers Hubert and William as well as his sisters in law Dorothy and JeanWedlake, Gladys Fleming and brother in law Bob Fleming. He is survived by his children: Murray (Pat) Wedlake and Cathy (Brian) Wagner; five grandchildren: Jennifer (Ryan) Korb, Amanda (Adam) McDermid, Danielle, Kaitlin and Tyler Wedlake, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Swansea, Wales on May 8th, 1921 to Ellen and Ivor Wedlake. Dad worked at Manitoba Bridge and Engineering in the foundry for over 40 years retiring in 1985. We celebrated Mom and Dad’s 50th wedding anniversary on May 26th, 2001 and his 90th Birthday in 2011. Dad lived life to the fullest and kept active his entire life. The Friday before his passing he went to McDonalds for his usual Friday coffee with a group of friends. He loved being around people and enjoyed all the family gatherings and he usually was the highlight at any social gathering. He enjoyed his two granddaughters’ weddings this year and he even cut in on the first waltz with his granddaughter. His grandchildren were always a very important part of his life. He attended many soccer and hockey games. Dad loved to keep himself busy all the time, was an avid gardener and loved to putter around the yard. He was always working on various jobs and projects. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 1 at 11: 00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, 220 Helmsdale Ave. Private family interment to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to his church, which he enjoyed so much, St Stephen’s Anglican Church, 220 Helmsdale Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2K 0V9 or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 0K6.
