Obituary of ANN CHIMUK

Ann Chimuk

July 8, 1932 - May 22, 2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ann Chimuk on Sunday, May 22 at the age of 89, seven weeks before her 90th birthday.

Proceeded by her husband of 36 years Bill, parents Jessie & Matthew, and brother Bill.

She is survived by her children: Terri (Wayne), John (Audrey), Pat (James), grandchildren: Crissy (Russel), Tom (Kari), Jonathan (Zoe), Laura (Brett), and great-grandchildren: Abby, Logan, and Henry. In addition, she is survived by sister-in-law’s Helen and Bernice Chimuk, and many nieces and nephews.

Born in West Ukraine in 1932, Ann and her family immigrated into Canada in 1935 and moved to Brantford, Ontario upon their arrival. Ann moved to Manitoba after meeting and marrying her husband Bill in 1948. Ann had a very business savvy mind and was remarkably entrepreneurial, running numerous businesses all while helping run the family farm.

Ann was self-taught and incredibly talented when it came to many hobbies such as sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cooking. She would often be found in her kitchen cooking countless Ukrainian delicacies for family and friends to enjoy, and at her sewing machine making clothes for her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

We will miss her stories, her knowledge about anything and everything, and most of all her company.

We want to thank Dr. Cavers and the entirety of the fifth-floor medical staff at the Victoria Hospital for their care and compassion during her short hospital stay.

In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal through the Red Cross.

Those we love don’t go away,

They walk beside us every day

Unseen, unheard, but always near

Still loved, still missed and very dear.
