Obituary of STELIANA GEORGESCU

Steliana Georgescu, 76 of Winnipeg Manitoba, passed away April 19, 2022, with her 3 daughters by her side.

She was born to the late Maria and Dumitru Georgescu, in Bucharest, Romania on December 3, 1945.

Steliana graduated from University of Bucharest with a degree in Education and a double major in History and Philosophy. She retired as an Inspector of Schools and worked for years in the aeronautics industry. She immigrated to Canada in 2000 with her mother and youngest daughter to reunite the family.

Steliana is survived by her three children: Simona (Emil), Daniela (Laur), and Oana (Dustin) and her three grandchildren: Andreea, Radu, and Monica. She is also a very proud great grandmother to darling Ivy Maria, Andreea and Tyrell’s daughter who Steliana adored. She was so proud of all her children and their families; there is nothing else that she loved more than spending time with them.

Steliana was an avid reader who loved nature, spent time bird watching, loved sunsets, and enjoyed gardening. She loved to travel and often visited her home country. She was known as the MacGyver of the family coming up with innovative ideas to fixing things. Her favourite leisure activity was enjoying the sun in the back yard with a good book and her beloved furry companion by her feet, Bailey. She also loved cooking and made some delicious traditional Romanian meals.

Steliana was a proud member of the Romanian Orthodox Church, where she met many of her dear friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Saint Boniface Hospital for the care she received on both the 7th floor Surgery Ward and in ICU.

Viewing ceremony and prayers will be held on Tuesday, April 26 from 6:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m.  at Cropo Funeral Chapel at 1442 Main Street. The service will take place on Wednesday, April 27 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Romanian Orthodox Church at 103 Furby Street. The burial will follow the same day at Brookside Cemetery at 3001 Notre Dame Avenue.
