ANDREW BURK

Obituary of ANDREW JOHN BURK

Andrew (Andy) John Burk

July 14, 1932 – March 13, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce that Andrew Burk of Winnipeg passed away in the company of his children on March 13, 2022 at nearly 90 years of age. With grieving hearts, we take solace in the fact that his period of pain and suffering has come to an end.

Andy will be forever missed by his two adoring children, Glenda and Barry (Monica); and his angel on earth and light of his life, his only grandchild Tianna. He is now reunited in heaven with Audrey, his wife of 62 years who passed in 2018.

Aside from a year in Victoria, Andy was a lifelong Manitoban and a proud Winnipegger. Andy was a devoted family man and loyal employee of Winnipeg Supply before his retirement. Andy loved to be busy and there was always plenty to do at his cherished cottage at Breezy Point where he balanced the work with his love of fishing. Later in life he would help Glenda with odd jobs and the garden at her house. He looked forward to seeing Barry, Monica, and Tianna whether at their home in Edmonton or during their trips back to Winnipeg. Andy was always proud of the accomplishments of his family and eager to help celebrate the latest milestone. In particular, he loved to hear the latest news about Tianna. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and the family pets. Andy loved to read the paper with his coffee every morning so he could know “what was going on in the world,” he monitored the weather very closely, never missed an important sporting event on TV always “pulling for” the Jets, Blue Jays and Bombers. He enjoyed the events at the Transcona Seniors’ group and loved to relax on his deck in the warm sunshine.

Andy’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare professionals who treated Andy so compassionately until the end, especially the doctors and staff at ACCESS River East and Concordia Hospital. In lieu of other gifts please consider the Concordia Foundation. https://concordiafoundation.ca/

At Andy’s request there will be no formal memorial, but we would ask that you remember him in your hearts. He will forever be in ours.
