SARAH DONOVAN

Obituary of SARAH JANE DONOVAN

Sarah Jane Donovan (nee Bruce)

Date of Birth: October 22, 1946

With her three daughters by her side, our mother, Sarah Jane Donovan, took her last breath on February 15, 2022.

Left to cherish Sarah’s memory are her three daughters: Kathleen Pellerin (Eric), Josephine Frey (Tim), Clorese Warren (Shane), and John Donovan Jr. (Amanda);   grandchildren: Matthew, Justin Bruce,  Katie, Alex Desrosier, Justin Frey, Emily, Dylan Frey, Joshuah, Kari, Summer-Lee, Meagan, Serena, Hayleigh, Linkin, Camdon, Aiden; and five great grandchildren: Sophia, Sadie, Hayden, Jack, Logan and one on the way. She has many nieces, nephews, friends and all the health care workers whom will all miss her.  Her forever friend Doris Pierce and sister Pearl Bruce were very dear to her heart. Sarah spent a lot of time with these two ladies these past years and of course, this included daily phone calls to check on each other. Sarah leaves this world to join her greatest love, husband John Donovan, her beloved son Franklyn Bruce and her mother Elizabeth Bruce in the spirit world.

Our mother, Sarah Jane Donovan, was born in Lake St. Martin, MB on October 22, 1946. Her parents were Elizabeth Bruce and Stanley Cameron and her siblings:  Shirley Rintoul (Toronto), Doreen Bruce (passed on), Myrtle Sanderson (passed on), Pearl Bruce (Winnipeg), Percy Bruce (Winnipeg), Wallace Bruce (Winnipeg), Lucy Bruce (Winnipeg) and Libby Bruce (Winnipeg).  Sarah moved to Winnipeg in the 60’s.  She loved family gatherings and special outings to parks, beaches, and campgrounds. She loved long drives with her husband John where they would just jump into the van and explore Manitoba. Bingo was always her favourite past time event. Last year, she and her friend Esther attended bingo as often as they could right up to Christmas Eve. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed time spent with them.

A special thank you to our sister Josephine and her husband Tim who opened up their home and created a space that made our mom feel safe and loved. She was never alone and surrounded by family and friends who loved her. With her final breath, she left this world and would no longer feel any pain, only peace.

Honourary Pallbearers are Eric Pellerin, Tim Frey, Shane Warren, Matthew Bruce, Justin Bruce, Joshuah Bruce, John Donovan Jr. and Aiden Bruce.
