Obituary of CARLOS ANTUNES GORDO

CARLOS ANTUNES GORDO

November 7, 1930 – December 19, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, friend Carlos Gordo on Sunday December 19, 2021 at the age of 91.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Olga (Paulo) grandson’s Lucas and Joshua, 2 sisters as well as numerous relatives, and dear friends in Portugal and Canada.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of over 50 years Maria do Carmo in 2019.

Carlos was born on November 7 1930 in Relvas do Ourondo Portugal. Before settling in Canada he spent time with his wife in France and Australia.

Carlos was a very hard working man, who was always ready to help a friend or family member in need with a smile on his face.

One of his passions was his garden, which he took very good care of especially his grape vines and fruit trees which he was very proud of.

He was a huge soccer fan, not missing a chance to watch his favourite team Benfica and recording all the scores. When in Portugal he would always catch a game.

In Winnipeg he was a big Jet’s fan and would take his family to watch them at the old barn back in the day.

His passion for soccer is now shared by his grandsons, which he enjoyed watching play over the years.

The family would like to thank homecare, Inkster homecare nursing and palliative care staff who took very good care and  helped to keep dad home as long as could, as well as the staff at Riverview 3E unit that helped with his care his last few days.

A special thank you to his home care workers Art, Jerome, and Glenn who always made sure my dad was ok on their visits, and to many family, and friends for all your support.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Proof of vaccination will be required for entry. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue.
