Obituary of ROBERT NESTOR MUZYKA
ROBERT (BOHDAN) NESTOR MUZYKA
1941-2021
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Robert (known to most as Bob), after battling cancer for months. He passed away peacefully on November 20, 2021. He was born on March 01,1941 in Winnipeg, MB. Bob was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Maria Muzyka of Vita, MB. He had no siblings. He is survived by his beloved wife Rosemarie [nee Mohr), daughter Tanya (Duane) Stepic and son Antin (Tanya) Muzyka, Grandchildren Milan, Luka, Vlad Stepic and Alyanna and Yarick Muzyka. Also, his sister-in-law Lana, niece Jennifer and nephew Tobias Unruh of Germany. Including many extended family members and dear friends here and abroad.
As a young child the family lived in Rosa, MB. His father was a blacksmith and mother was Postmaster. Later they moved to Vita, MB where Bob completed school at Shewchenko school. He was a member of the Vita Ukrainian dance group, CYMK Ukrainian Youth club and also managed to take Violin lessons which proved later to be his true love. During his years in school, he played baseball with the Vita Cubs Jr team. Later he was chosen to join the Senior Vita Cubs. In 2008, the Vita Cubs baseball team were inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame in Morden MB.
Bob's passion from a very young age was to play music and entertain the public. He had his first booking to play with his cousin at age 13 at a local wedding. Later joined a very popular Rock and Roll band " Bobby Everette and the Eternals' later named The Eternals', Socials, Dances were very popular in the early sixties selling out everywhere they played. It was at one dance he met the love of his life.
After Bob graduated from High School he taught in a one room country school, grades 1-9. Soon he realized that this was not for him and he moved to Winnipeg where he worked for many years at Supercrete, McCurdy Building Products and lastly Lafarge. He retired after 38 years. He enjoyed travelling to various parts of the world with Rosemarie, especially his place in the sun Arizona. Many years he enjoyed spending winters there and sharing special memories with friends. Bob loved his backyard flower garden which he tended to daily with TLC making sure they bloomed profusely. He loved sitting on his favorite (plastic) patio chair and simply enjoyed the beauty of his labour.
Bob was an avid reader spending hours emersed in a mystery book. Occasionally he would play his favourite instrument (violin) while playing along to a polka or waltz while listening to the Ukrainian hour program on the radio. When he was able and energetic, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren either talking about world affairs with the older ones, playing checkers, reading with the younger ones or attending soccer or hockey games and cheering them on.
Bob was kind, loving, compassionate, funny, caring, a great host, a soft soul and the life of a party. He was very special to many who knew him.
It is difficult to put into a few words to describe one who was blessed with a wonderful life. He leaves memories of special times shared and his loved eched in our hearts forever.
