KATHERINE (TINA) MARTENS
(nee UNGER)
September 24, 1932 – November 19, 2021
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Friend.
Kathrine was a loving energetic mother who loved cooking, sewing, crochet, cross stitching, fishing and gardening.
Mom was born at home in Old Rosenort, but registered at Gretna Mb. Mom moved to various locations with family until they moved to the family farm north of Homewood in 1944. Mom completed her education while working on the farm helping wherever she was needed.
She made her first move off the farm to Lowe Farm then on to Morris where Gerald, Don, and Richard were born. From there to Bombertown, ON then on to Melita, Virden and then to Wpg where Judy and Doug were born. Mom then started working at Eaton’s in sales working with sewing machines and fabrics which she excelled at while meeting and making many new friends. From Winnipeg mom moved to her final home at Knights of Columbus in Selkirk Mb. She spent many hours tending to the garden on Richard’s property or sewing for residences at her apartment.
Mom loved her children, grandchildren and great grand children. Visiting with them always brightened her day. Mom had many nephews and nieces that she loved to spend time with.
She was predeceased by her parents George & Elizabeth Unger (Reimer), siblings Albert, Jake (Mary), John(Helen), Marge and Elsie, sister in law Marie, nephew Bradly.
Mom will be missed by her family Gerald (Audrey), Don (Phyllis), Richard, Judith (Alvin), and Doug (Kerry). Grandchildren Jason, Ashton, Brett, Katrina, Riley, Lauren, and Tyler; Great Grandchildren Masen, Dahlie and Kenhlie and her surviving siblings Cornelius (Beth) and Abe (Pat).
