My sincere condolences to Barbra and the entire Pappas family. Jim's kindness, generosity, humour and zest for life will be missed in a world that too often lacks those attributes. May he rest in peace until he rises in glory.

I am so sorry to hear of Jimmy's passing, I was looking forward to seeing him again and catching up at the long delayed Phi Reunion. Jim was in his glory at these events and always held court for us out of towners.
We had some family connections from the North End that instantly made me part of his frat family. He was a gentle guiding force for many of us during our university years and after.
He was a true gentleman in all respects, I think the title of his radio show "A Class Act" aptly captured Jim.
My condolences to Barb and the rest of the family and sincere thanks for sharing Jim with all of us. He will be missed but has left an enduring and indelible mark and will not be forgotten.

When many people think of the popular stereotype of fraternity members they would not think of men like our dear friend and fraternity brother, Jim. He embodies, however, the true spirit of friendship and dedication to all of us who were fortunate to be undergraduates and alumni associates of Jim, as well as Barbra, after they married. Whether it was finding a date for another undergraduate or organizing reunions of hundreds of us every five years after university, Jim was always there ready to ensure we always had fun and enjoyed each other’s friendship. Even though many of us scattered across North America in pursuit of our business careers, we could always count on a late night call from Jim, to provide an update on the latest events. Jim was generous, kind and compassionate and a true life-long friend whose passing leaves a large hole in our lives. Rest In Peace, Jim!

Following my mother’s passing and my father’s marriage to Jimmy’s aunt Becky, I was first introduced to the extended Kelekis clan when I visited at Christmas 1980. Amongst the accomplished, friendly, tightly knit, hard working and generous band of brothers, sisters and cousins that I met on that first trip from home here near San Francisco, Jimmy’s unique presence was evident from the start. I can only echo the comments that have been made about his exuberant outgoing personality. But what I want to share as someone who does not come from Winnipeg is the immense pride that Jimmy took in introducing me to Winnipeg’s cultural accomplishments. Whether it was attending the ballet with he and Barbara, or viewing exhibits he recommended at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, and so forth, I always felt like I was being treated to an aficionado’s appreciation of the arts. My wife Charlotte and I offer our deepest condolences. Ross Walker and Charlotte Tonge

Tammy and I really loved the company of Jim and Barbra at fraternity dinners and really became good friends. We eventually took Jim and Barbras cooking class and had a great deal of fun. Tammy and I will miss Jim’s passion for family and fraternity and was a great friend.

When Jim and Barbra moved in next door to us, my mother Shirley and Jim hit it off immediately. They enjoyed many great conversations and laughs across the backyard fence. It was a great thing to listen to because both of them had legendary laughs which were recognizable to any who knew them! I like to think of them now, as the "life of the party" up in Heaven. Sincere sympathy and condolences to Barbra, Christopher, Alex and friends and families. His loss will be felt profoundly by many, he was so very full of life, it is hard to imagine him gone. With love, Nancy Charge (Brown) and family

Jim has been a good friend of mine since the early 1960s. His love of life, kindness, caring, and generosity were second to none. As well, he was one of the most upbeat people I have ever known. My fond memories of him will last forever as will my deepest sympathies to Barb and family. RIP Jim.

I will always remember Jim. I first met Jim and Barbra at cooking classes through the leisure guide. I loved being around them and then stopping by kelekis for a double yale burger. Throughout the years I would message Jim on Facebook about recipes and he was so happy to email them to me. He was a great man and will be missed deeply
