Obituary of HELEN OLGA MOROZ
HELEN OLGA MOROZ (KUCHMA)
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the Holy Family Home. Helen is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years Peter, sons Ron (Joan), Robert and granddaughter Stephanie (Mike Geith).
Helen was predeceased by her parents John and Irene Kuchma, sisters Annie, Nellie and brother Eddie during the early part of the last century, and brother Peter and sister-in-law Anne.
Helen was born in the house on Alfred Avenue on September 11, 1929. After graduating from Isaac Newton High School she started to work at the Bank of Montreal at the Portage Avenue Branch.
When a new branch opened at Mountain and McGregor, there she met a customer named Peter. After dating for a short time they were married at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Parish in 1954 where they attended regularly. Helen also joined the UCWLC and was a member for 64 years. When her children were older, she was employed by Northwest Bakery and City Bread.
She enjoyed travelling to Los Angeles, Hawaii, Phoenix, Palm Springs, Eastern Canada, St. Catharines, and Vancouver Island. She made many trips to Radium Hot Springs to enjoy the scenery and healing waters. She also enjoyed going to the family cottage at Arnes. There she made her husband’s favourite perogies and watched CFL games.
Thanks to Dr. Ames and the Orthopedic staff at Grace Hospital and staff at St. Martha’s Ward at the Holy Family Home.
The UCWLC will lead the praying of the Rosary on Friday, November 19 at 12:30 p.m. at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Parish, 965 Boyd Avenue with a solemn Divine Liturgy following at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Fr. Volodymyr Bashutskyy officiating. Interment will be in Holy Family Cemetery. Proof of vaccination with ID is required.
