MARIA CZARNECKI

Obituary of MARIA THERESE CZARNECKI

Maria Czarnecki (nee Serwach)

December 26,1936- October 20, 2021

With heavy hearts our family announces the passing of Maria, our Mom and Babi (grandma), October 20, 2021.

She was predeceased by her husband John.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Mitch (Chris), Liz (Tom), Rick (Jennifer), and Teddy (Shawna). As well as her grandchildren Tina, Michelle, Julie, Eric, Michael, Nicole, Danielle, Brayden and Emma-Lee and also great grandchildren Meredith, Cash, Jensen, Jordan and Jackson.

Mom was born in Goussainville France. After the war her family moved to Poland, when she was about 12 years old.

Years later, her sisters asked her to attend a dance with them. There she met John, whom she would marry. Together they lived on a farm in Droglowice Poland. They started a family,  welcoming the births of Mitch,  Liz and Rick.

In 1966, the Czarnecki family had immigrated to Canada. They joined John's brother and his family that arrived earlier. They settled into life in Winnipeg. Years later they welcomed Teddy into the world.

Mom first worked for Canada Post and then later, for many years, at the Centennial Concert Hall, until retirement.

Mom had left Europe, leaving her siblings behind. They stayed in touch for awhile, but as time went on, they lost contact. She cherished her memories of them.

Surprisingly,  many many years later, family members of two of her sisters would find Mom. Thanks to modern technology,  the children helped the sisters 'see' eachother again- virtually online. How wonderful that was, as she missed them dearly. To see her reconnect with family after so many years was touching. It was so cute to witness the sisters 'reunion', talking and giggling,  as if no time had passed.

Mom had grown up with strong family values, but there was no greater love than that of her children and grandchildren. She had such great pride and love for each and everyone of them.

Mom was a loving, caring, gentle person that was selfless, in that she wanted nothing more than her family to live their best life and be happy and healthy. Motherhood came naturally for her, nurturing her family many ways. One of them being a wonderful cook. She loved cooking and we will all have memories of our favorites.

Moms family was growing. With the birth of each of her grandchildren,  she glowed in happiness. To hold each them in her loving arms, her heart was full.

Mom, a piece of our hearts have gone with you, we will miss you and your wonderful smile.

A Celebration of Life Open House will take place on November 27th. Please contact our family if you wish to attend.

Thank you to the doctors and nurses at Health Sciences Center for their caring and compassion for Mom.
