BISERKA GAGIC

Obituary of BISERKA GAGIC

After a short battle with family at her side, our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Biserka Gagic peacefully passed away on October 11, 2021 at the age of 85.

Baba was born on November 13, 1935 in Macija, Serbia.  She was predeceased by her husband Radivoje Gagic and parents Dragomir and Slavna Milovanovic. Left to cherish her memories are her son Dragan (Mary), grandchildren Mikki (Melanie), Marko (Kristin), Filip (Sara), great grandchildren Alexander, Mia and another girl on the way. Sister, sister-in-law and brother in Serbia along with extended family back home and in Winnipeg.

Baba was married at a young age on September 18, 1958 and shortly after had their only son Dragan. Baba and Deda immigrated to Winnipeg on November 1, 1990 to reunite with their son Dragan and help take care of their grandchildren. As much as she loved her family, Baba’s joy was back home in her village of Madere where she enjoyed spending her summers. Baba would come back to Winnipeg to spend the winter months with her son and family. Baba loved gardening, farming, and socializing with her neighbours. She also loved babysitting her great grandchildren and they brought her so much joy every time they would visit.

The family would like to give sincere appreciation to Dr. Law for home visits, along with the nurses, home care staff and case coordinator with the WRHA palliative care program. Lastly, to Florence Arellano who knew how to lift Baba’s spirit and always make her smile during her most difficult times and days.

A service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday October 19, 2021 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Public visitation for viewing from 2:00 to 2:30 PM.

If friends and family so desire, in lieu of flowers donations may be sent in Baba’s memory to St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 580 Talbot Ave, Winnipeg MB R2L 0R6 or Cancer Care Manitoba.

Baba, may you rest in peace and be reunited with Deda. We love and miss you, forever in our hearts.
