Obituary of KAREN FORMANIUK

 Karen Formaniuk (nee Zemliduk)

June 22, 1952 – September 29, 2021

 

Karen Formaniuk passed away peacefully on September 29, 2021 at Selkirk General Hospital at the age of 69. She was predeceased by her father John, mother Gertrude (Trudy), stepfather Jim, brothers Terry, John (Butch), sister Gale, father-in-law Harry, mother-in-law Elsie, brothers-in-law Ron, Michael, and sister-in-law Katherine. Karen leaves to mourn her husband, of 52 years, Steve, children Steve, Kevin (Jen), Tammy (Craig), grandchildren Stephen, Courtney, Devon, Braden, Cassidy, Breanna, Malaya, Raina, sisters Linda (Yvon), Donna (Terry), Mary, sister-in-law Helene, brother-in-law Harry (Cheryl), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Karen was born in Winnipeg to John and Gertrude Zemliduk. She married Steve on January 25, 1969 and spent the next 52 years by his side both in marriage and in running the family business, Cash Auto & Truck Sales. Karen and Steve purchased a cottage in Lac Du Bonnet where she loved spending time with her grandchildren, fishing, gardening, playing cards with friends, traveling, and putting together the numerous puzzles that line the walls at the cottage.

The family would like to thank the staff at Selkirk General Hospital Emergency Department, Karen’s favorite home care worker Tracy, and especially the great neighbours at the lake, Kurt, Tannis, Rob, and their families.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel at 1442 Main Street. The service will be held at Cropo on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery at 4515 Main Street, West St. Paul. Pallbearers will be Steve Formaniuk, Kevin Formaniuk, Tammy Formaniuk, Stephen Formaniuk, Trevor Zemliduk, and Kurt Craig. If friends so desire, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, 110-1525 Carling Ave., Ottawa, ON, K1Z 8R9.
