Deanna was certainly quirky, but I will always remember her as affectionate, outgoing, fiercely independent, and engaged in her community. She loved learning, and her family was of utmost importance to her. Everyone was her cousin, but she seemed to feel particularly close to those of us who truly were related to her. She loved animals, and was heartbroken every time a hamster died. I still remember meeting her for the first time as a young child at her parents' house during a family gathering. She was really kind to my little sister and I, delighted to show us her amazing collection of dolls, and insisted on us calling her "Aunty Dea." Years later, she did the same for my own daughters. I offer my condolences to my cousins, and prayers for the repose of her soul.
