Obituary of LAURA- LYNN MALASCHUK
LAURA- LYNN MALASCHUK
Nee Jack
November 1, 1953 – June 25, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family announce the sudden passing of our beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Laura.
Laura is survived by her loving mother Lorraine, brother Danny (Maureen) and nephews Fraser and Elliot.
She was predeceased by her husband and soulmate Rick, her dear Grandma Schmidt and beloved father Crawford.
Above all Laura loved her family. She was always concerned about their well-being and was always there for them. She cherished her time and memories of summers spent at the family cottage at Gull Lake.
Laura exuded beauty from the inside out. Her beautiful blonde curly hair, her lively green eyes and radiant smile would light up a room.
She has a great sense of humor and the twinkle in her eye let you know she was part of a fun, mischievous prank or ready to tell you one of her adventurous life experiences.
Laura was very artistic, creative, kind, thoughtful, giving, caring, compassionate and astute. However if she felt she needed to voice her opinion she definitely did.
Laura has a heart of gold and would not hesitate to help someone in need. Her love was unconditional.
She loved and enjoyed nature. Whether it was plants or animals. While she was able she tended to her beautiful and abundant vegetable garden. Her backyard was like a park.
Laura had a soft spot for animals. She rescued many strays and made sure they went to caring homes. There was always bird seed for the birds. Her pet dogs Pookie, Pegei and Angus gave her great joy, comfort and companionship.
Laura also loved children and being a teacher was a given. She was employed with the Winnipeg School Division for 30 years and spent most of her teaching career at Tyndall Park Community School.
Laura loved being a teacher and her students loved her. She exemplified what it was to be a wonderful teacher. She never hesitated to give her students a hug and always made them feel valued. It was so important to her that each of her students felt part of the family atmosphere she created in her classroom. Like Mother Earth, she embraced her students as if they were her own, guiding, nurturing and teaching them “The Golden Rule.”
Laura met and married the love of her life. They enjoyed each other’s company and complemented each other. Laura’s happiest days were the time she had with Rick. A memorable time for them was a vacation to Puerto Vallarta where Rick and Laura danced their feet off. Unfortunately their time together was cut short by his untimely passing.
Laura will be deeply misses by family, friends and colleagues. Her cherished friends Gail and Eleanor have lost a true friend, but have the memories of a great friendship. Laura is in her happy place with Rick. In her memory, continue with her legacy of giving hugs and unconditional love.
If you wish make a donation to the Humane Society in Laura’s memory.
As per Laura’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a private family service Thursday, July 8, 2021.
