Obituary of PAUL BURCH

AA larger | smaller PAUL BURCH PAUL BURCH It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our dear Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, and Great Uncle on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the age of 55 years. Paul is lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years of marriage, Marsha and his son Doug (Julie), mother Rose-Marie, brother Wayne (Jezerie) nephews Daniel and Jeremy, niece Amber, sister Sharon - niece Liz (Mike) and their children Kaylee, Caleb, Anthony, Reagen and niece Crystal (Brent). Paul was predeceased by his father Harry. He will also be fondly remembered by his aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, large circle of friends, snowmobiling buddies and colleagues. Paul was born in Marville, France on the Canadian Armed Forces Base. Shortly thereafter the family came back to Canada to live in Winnipeg. He grew up in the north end and graduated from St. John's High School. He met his high school sweetheart and only love, Marsha, at the age of 16 years (1973). Paul's first few jobs were at Princess Auto, Dashwood Industries Ltd., Dominion Lumber, Building Products and Mount Carmel Clinic. On August 16, 1980 Paul married Marsha and a few years later their beautiful blonde haired, blue eyed son Doug was born. In 1981, they built their first home in Transcona, to which the family still resides today. In 1985, Paul found a job at the Winnipeg Free Press that was meant for him. He was a hard worker; the company realized his potential and gave him the opportunity to further his education to become an Industrial Mechanic. He received his Industrial Mechanic Ticket and continued his diligent work with the Winnipeg Free Press. Paul went on to become an active board member with the Union. Paul loved being a father. He adored his son Doug who brought so much purpose into his life. As a child growing up, Paul was very involved and hands on with Doug's childhood activities such as being the coach for his soccer and football teams. Paul being such a jack of all trades, it was so important to teach his one and only boy, side by side, these very skills. Numerous times Paul was there for Doug with the recent building of his first home. Paul was so proud of Doug! Paul was overjoyed to welcome his first grandchild in the upcoming new year. His anticipation was expressed so often with many plans for the little one's future. For the past 20 years, Paul's passion was snowmobiling and his participation with various committees and clubs. His amazing commitment and dedication to Snoman Inc., Eastern Region Snowmobile Association, Springhill Trailblazers, Canadian Council of Snowmobile Organizations and Mid-Canada Marine and Powersports Dealers Association inspired him and was a highlight of his life. In the summer months, Paul would be found puttering away at their cabin in Belair, Manitoba. He loved the cabin life and found serenity and peacefulness. Although he spent most of his time at the cabin or snowmobiling, Paul enjoyed travelling, especially cruise ship vacations. Our lives will never be the same without Paul's infectious laugh and his kind, caring, outgoing, and sociable nature. Everyone who knew Paul loved him and he will be sadly missed. His special daschunds, D.J. and Romy will miss Paul immensely. Paul loved animals and always had pets.
