DOROTHY MARY FRANCE
1925 - 2012
On December 11, 2012, Dorothy with her family beside her went to her eternal rest. Dorothy was born in Winnipeg, April 22, 1925. She enjoyed living in the family home in Weston all of her life. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Thomas Anglican Church, where she also taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for 35 years. She worked as a Health Care Aide at Children's Hospital in the Emergency Department, retiring in 1984 after completing 25 years of service.
Dorothy loved to sing, play the organ, sew, crochet, knit, dance and photography. She enjoyed travelling, especially to visit her brother Jack in B.C. She spent many summer vacations at Anglican Island Camp on Lake of the Woods. She shared a special friendship with Wesley Thompson, Maxine and their family.
She was enthusiastic, exuberant, and had a beautiful smile. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Dorothy was predeceased, by her parents Sidney and Eliza and her brothers John (Jack) and Aleck.
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Wilma Geurts her son-in-law Leon and grandson Ryan (Carrie), nephew Doug (Anna) and their children Jeff and Richard.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for the exceptional care provided by the staff on the first floor of Concordia Place.
A private celebration of Dorothy's life has been arranged. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
