ELSIE SIGNATOVICH

Peacefully, after a life well-lived, Elsie was reunited with her dance partner, Victor, who predeceased her in 2007 after 62 wonderful years and together they are dancing across the heavens. Elsie was also predeceased by her daughter, Nancy and Son-in-Law, John.

She has left a void in the hearts of her children, Pat (John, deceased), Diane (Barry) and Jim (Kim). Also missing their Baba are her 11 grandchildren Toshya (Clay), Ethan (Alix), Kristina (Ian), Bjorn (Susan), Jenn (Brad), Brad (Natalie), Trevor (Jen), Jeremy, Lucas, Claire and Lizzie and 13 great-grandchildren Devin, Mabel, Anna, Matthew, Elisa, Gavin, Aaron, Andrew, Nicholas, Rachel, Ella, Carter and Astrid.

Mom was born on April 18, 1928 on the family farm near Rackham, Manitoba. She was the fourth of six children and is survived by her sister, Olga. She married Victor on November 19, 1944. Together they enjoyed gardening, travelling, fishing and camping with their children and grandchildren. Mom also loved her visits to the casino. She was an avid bowler for over 40 years and at the age of 90 could still outbowl her daughters. Mom spent many years catering in various synagogues. She quickly became the expert at decorating head tables and creating amazing fruit basket displays carved from watermelon and other fruit. We fondly remember packing into her tiny kitchen to make pyroshky for her grandchildren’s wedding showers, having loads of laughs while the wine flowed.

Our family would like to thank her caregivers at Holy Family Nursing Home, St. Francis Unit, for their loving care, kindness and friendship, especially Alex, Carla, Karen, Kathy and Myroslava who became our second family.

Donations can be made to the LUBOV SSMI FOUNDATION (Holy Family), 1085 Main St., Winnipeg, MB, R2W 3S1. A celebration of life will be held post-pandemic.
