Sending Our Sincere Condolences to you Zoya and Family in the loss of your Wonderful Mom. It is very unfortunate losing her under these uncontrollable circumstances. It's great that you were able to have her for her long life she had. I used to love talking with her at your home. Love from Your Friends and Neighbour Linda, Leonard and our Family.

My dearest Grandma died late Tuesday November 24, 2020 at the strong age of 97.
I take great pride in calling her my grandma as she was such a strong lady and I admired that trait so much. Strong physically, strong in her opinions and not afraid to speak up. She grew up in a Doukhobor Russian family on a farm in Saskatchewan. The only daughter in her family she often told stories of playing baseball with her brothers, something she loved doing.
She cared so deeply for her family, worrying about us and praying for us daily. She helped take care of me and my brother while we were growing up. I’ll never forget how she would take a bus from her apartment to our house, then take another bus with me and Kevin downtown so we could visit with my mom on her lunch break. When I visited her at her apartment I enjoyed watching Days of our Lives and reading her stack of Woman’s World magazines. Her traditional Russian cooking was amazing, and I’m so thankful for the time I spent learning what I could from her.
My grandma was a resident at the Maples personal care home. She tested positive for covid at the end of October. While she initially didn’t show any symptoms, the covid took over her body and accelerated end of life. It’s been a roller coaster of a month, but I take comfort in knowing that my mom was able to be with her towards the end. I’d like to thank the nursing and support staff at the Maples for their tireless and selfless efforts that have been made over the past month. It breaks my heart knowing that almost 25% of residents in this home have died from covid since the end of October.
So please friends... do your part, please listen to the medical experts and follow public health orders. Your actions might save a life. We will get through this together.
