Obituary of AMANDA LECLAIR
AMANDA LECLAIR
(NEE BEAUDIN)
After a brief illness, Amanda passed away on August 5, 2020. She is survived by her loving husband Marcel and her daughters Gisele and Diane, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Eva Beaudin, as well as all her siblings, Omer, Lea, Moise, Donat, Rose, Laurent, Octava, Laura, and Florence, as well as several extended family members.
Amanda grew up in St. Eustache, MB. She also attended school in St. Francois Xavier for a time. She got her first job at the Red and White Store in St. Eustache. As a young woman, she moved to Winnipeg where she attended Success College. This led to work at Kelly Roberts and the Swift packing house.
She married Marcel in 1966. After a few years at home raising their two daughters, Amanda returned to work at the Nutty Club in downtown Winnipeg. She later worked as Buyer/Receiver for the Paddock Restaurant, and retired from Maccosham Storage and Distribution. After retirement, she and Marcel moved to Nanaimo, BC in 1999, returning to Winnipeg in 2007.
In her spare time, Amanda spent many happy hours sewing all kinds of garments, including making her own wedding dress and her daughters’ christening gowns. She and Marcel worked together renovating their homes in Winnipeg and Nanaimo, BC. She was known for her attention to detail and her “eagle eye” that never needed a tape measure or a level. Amanda also enjoyed vegetable gardening, solitaire and crossword puzzles. She had a deep affection for owls, which could be found a little all over the house. Trips to the Canadian Rockies and fishing were her favourite family vacations.
Famous for her coffee and meat pies, she loved to laugh and had a quick wit. A tiny woman with a huge heart, Amanda enjoyed visits with her large extended family, which included her siblings and nieces and nephews. The coffee was always on for friends and neighbours, too.
A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and support staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital, 5 Unit 4, for their gentle care of Amanda.
A small graveside service was held at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 10:30 a. m. Monsignor Maurice Comeault officiated.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Foundation Fighting Blindness, 890 Yonge Street, 12th Floor, Toronto Ontario, M4W 3P4.
