DOROTEA BERENA March 27, 1931 – August 2, 2020 It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Dorotea Palicpic Berena, on Saturday evening, August 1, 2020 at her residence with her family by her side. Dorotea is now forever reunited with her husband Delfin and their beloved daughter Maria Corazon. She is survived by her children, Nora Berena, Tessie and Cristian Laqui with children Christine (Arnold) and Joebert (Kathleen), Liza and Lito Reyes with children Debbie (Lonnie), Lizah and Diane, Buddy and Phina Berena with children Jenny (Louis), Jeannette and Jackielou, Ben and Guy Berena with children Len, Kalvin and Sharlene, Greg and Malou Berena with their daughter Jessica (Markus), Rey and Thelma Berena with children RJ and Rheanna; great-grandchildren Logan, Orion, Avery, Jericho, Maude, Xander and Audrey, nephews, nieces and extended family. She was born March 27, 1931 in Taal, Batangas, Philippines and immigrated to Canada on August 28, 1981. Dorotea was a gentle, loving and generous person dedicated to her family and friends. She loved to teach her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even relatives she took care of tagalog songs and the language itself. Her pride and joy was to see her family spend time together with lots of love and laughter. She will be dearly missed and remembered by so many whose lives she touched. The family would like to express gratitude to the Seven Oaks General Hospital Manitoba Renal Program for providing care to her in her four years of dialysis and MICU, GH4 and Dr. Timothy Hiebert along with the Palliative Care team at Health Sciences Centre for providing support, comfort and care to her and the family during her last days. Viewing (Lamay) will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel Thursday, August 6 and Friday, August 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight. Funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 355 Andrews Street at Mountain on Saturday, August 8 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Bo Wardzinski officiating. Due capacity restrictions guests may be required to wait before entering the funeral home. Similar restrictions shall apply at the church as well. The family will provide a link to view live streaming of the lamay and funeral for anyone who may not be able to attend.
