EDWARD PASHKO

Obituary of EDWARD DALE PASHKO

EDWARD PASHKO It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Pashko on June 4, 2020, after a brief illness with cancer. Ed was born in Nickel Lake, Ontario on May 17, 1949 to Agnes Larsen and William Pashko. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Heather, and his children Lance, Kelley (Gray), Quentin and Jolene. Ed spent his early life in Caliento, MB where he was brought up speaking mostly Ukrainian until he started school. In the summer that Ed turned 16, a pipeline was being built near Caliento which he joined work on. This began a career in the field that spanned 50+ years and saw him travel from coast to coast working on the pipelines. He was also a proud member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 254. In the early years of his work, Ed was in an accident that resulted in the loss of his leg, however he never let this disability slow him down in any way, as evidenced by his accomplishments. Ed met Heather in Vita, MB and they were married on September 4, 1971 and shortly after moved to Vegreville, AB where their first three children were born. They later moved to Morris, MB before finally settling in Vita, MB where they designed and built the family home, a place of many happy memories for years to come. Dad taught us to fish, hunt, gather wood and grow a garden amongst many other valuable life skills, and instilled by example an ethic of hard work in his children. He also always insisted that things be done "right" with one of his many mottos being, if you're not going to do something right, don't do it at all! Once all their children had grown and moved to Winnipeg, Ed and Heather moved to the city as well in order to be near their five kids, all settling within blocks of one another. What followed were many more happy years of backyard barbeques and frequent family gatherings. Ed retired at age 65, although he was asked several times to return for "one last job", and he enjoyed those post retirement outings on the pipeline with his youngest son Clayton, of whom he was extremely proud. Ed also had a love of animals, and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the family dog Stitch, who is deeply morning the loss of his Grampy. Ed is predeceased son Clayton, a loss that greatly affected him in these last number of years. Once restrictions have been listed, Edward and Clayton will be laid to rest together at St. Isadore Roman Catholic Parish Cemetery in Vita, MB, and a celebration of life will take place at that time as well.
