Obituary of JOSEPH RODOLPHE PIERRE MULLINS LEPROHON

JOSEPH RODOLPHE PIERRE MULLINS LEPROHON January 5, 1940 – May 24, 2020 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pierre LeProhon at the age of 80, beloved husband of Linda. Pierre passed away at the Grace Hospital after a brief illness with his wife by his side. He was predeceased by his parents Marcel and Juliette. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda, sister Michele, brothers Guy (Lucie), Louis (Denise), sister-in law Barbara Burwash, 3 daughters and 9 grandchildren from a previous marriage and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Pierre was born in Montreal, he attended university to become an accountant, but changed his mind to go into sales instead. Since he was such an outgoing and charismatic person, he could not see himself working on numbers all day. He worked at different sales companies in Montreal. After his divorce in 1970, he came West to Winnipeg. He met his wife, Linda, on a blind date while working as a Manager of the Café Lombard at the Winnipeg Inn and they spent 44 wonderful years together. Pierre was an extraordinary man who could do any type of job and excel at it. His career included a number of roles where he could utilize his interests and people skills. He started out at Frank Fair Industries Ltd., then manager at the Winnipeg Inn, inspector at New Flyer Industries, sales with A.I.S. Industries, Construction Equipment, Querel Equipment, retired briefly, then decided to try something totally different, drive a school bus for children from French Schools; L’Esperance and Louis Riel School Division. After that, the opportunity came for him to drive developmentally delayed adults to their respective programs until 2011. Pierre had a passion for music (especially classical). He knew all the music of the composers by heart. He taught himself to play the guitar and the piano. He had a quick and inventive mind and composed a few songs that delighted his in-laws and his wife. Pierre was very handy and he could fix anything or build it, if he set his mind to it. He was known as “Mr Fixit” to Linda and Barbara. Pierre was a sweet, gentle man with a good sense of humour and he will be dearly missed by his wife Linda and sister-in-law Barbara. After a devastating brain injury in 2013, Pierre spent 7 years in hospital, personal care homes at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface and St. Vital. A special thank you is extended to the kind and caring staff at both personal care homes as well as the nurses and doctors at the Grace Hospital. There will be a private family service at Mary, Mother of the Church on Kirkbridge Drive with Father Kevin Bettens officiating. Since the service is limited to 25 people, it will be recorded for those unable to attend.
