ROSE VENESIA

Obituary of ROSE ANN VENESIA

ROSE VENESIA NEE LOSCHIAVO It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Rose Venesia on May 5th, 2020, at the age of 85. Rose was predeceased by her husband Ermanno and her parents Gaetania and Ralph as well as her brother Sam Loschiavo. Left to cherish her memory are her sons John (Mary), Bruno (Barb), her sister Mary Houston, grandchildren Benjamin, Domenic and Rhiannon. Also left to mourn is her sister-in-law Lena, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Rose was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In her youth, she and her family moved to Italy for a short time. They returned to Canada when Rose was in her teens. She started working early in life, working as a professional seamstress. After having her children she began a career at the Hudson’s Bay Company, where she worked her way up and managed the China Department at The Bay Downtown. Rose carried herself with dignity throughout her life and dedicated herself to her work and family. After a long day's work she always managed to lovingly prepare a homemade meal for her family. Ermanno and Rose enjoyed a long marriage and many good times together. They had a cabin in Gimli, Manitoba where they loved to entertain family and friends. Ermanno referred to Gimli as paradise, and they enjoyed their time there. They also enjoyed a few road trips to British Columbia. Many vacations were taken to Mexico also with family and friends. Apart from Mexico, they traveled extensively throughout Italy, where they made beautiful memories. After Rose’s retirement she and Ermanno moved to Southern Ontario, shortly after they arrived Ermanno was diagnosed with cancer. Being the dedicated wife she was, Rose never left Ermanno’s side, tirelessly taking care of him throughout his illness. After Ermanno passed away, she returned to Winnipeg where she exercised great strength and independence. Rose had an inseparable bond with her sister Mary, they prepared countless holiday dinners together. The two also took trips to Spain and Hawaii, as well as Mexico. There was nothing more important to Rose than her family and friends. Many will have memories of knitted blankets, Barbie clothes and sweaters. She adored her grandchildren, nieces and nephews who provided her with so much joy. Rose’s love was probably best conveyed through her cooking, spending many hours in the kitchen preparing dinners we will never forget. We will carry her warmth, love and words of wisdom in our hearts forever. Although her stay was brief, Rose received wonderful care at Poseidon Long Term Care Centre. There are no words to express our profound gratitude for your exceptional care and compassion, thank you.
