Obituary of Anne Van Ess
ANNE VAN ESS (NEE DZUS) (KOSACK)
1926 - 2020
Anne passed away peacefully on May 1, 2020, just weeks before her 94th birthday.
She is survived by her daughter Terri (David Hooper), son-in-law Ralph Lorusso, granddaughters Grace (Albert), Daniella (Matthew) and Kirsten, and great-grandchildren Vienna, Allora, Gianna, Madden and Dante.
She was predeceased by her daughter Vivian, first husband Nick, second husband Albert and brother Peter.
Anne worked in the food service industry until she retired in 1991. She loved to cook and nothing made her happier than sending a container of cabbage rolls or a lemon pie home with family. She was skilled at using crochet and knitting needles, and produced many beautiful needlepoint pictures for others to enjoy. A farm girl at heart, gardening was also a passion.
Anne instilled a love of cooking in her family and inspired a willingness to share with others. She will be dearly missed and forever in their hearts.
Thanks to the staff at Holy Family Home and previously at Thorvaldson Care Centre for their care and compassion. There are many who went far beyond their regular duties with heartfelt kindness to provide companionship and support to Anne. The family is also grateful that arrangements were made for Terri to be at Anne’s bedside in her final days.
A private family interment was held. Family and friends will gather at a later date to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
