HERMENEGILDO MIGUEL DIAS It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hermenegildo Miguel Dias on March 31, 2020 at St. Boniface Hospital surrounded by his family. He died at the age of 73 years. Hermenegildo is survived by his wife, Libertina, son Nelson, daughters Elizabeth and Patricia (Victor); grandchildren Andre, Gabriella and Miguel; sisters Natalia (Domingos), Leontina (Armenio), sister Maria Berta (Jorge) of Portugal; brother Delfim (Cremilde) of Portugal; and sisters-in-law in Portugal; he also leaves to mourn his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Vitorino Dias and Ana Gestrudes Natalia; brothers Antonio, Jose and Albano. Hermenegildo was born in Loures, Portugal in the small town of Malhapao on September 18, 1946. He would often share found memories of his youth in Portugal, of his time in the Guinea war and working for Ucal (Portugal milk company). When he returned from war, he began his life with his wife Libertina and soon after they welcomed a son Nelson and daughter Elizabeth and ten years later welcomed a daughter Patricia. In 1987 they made the difficult decision to move to Canada to make a better life for them. He was always a hard worker and made sure his family was always provided for. Unfortunately, in 1997 he was faced with what was probably the hardest time in his life, he was struggling with heart failure, thankfully on April 20th,1997 he received his heart transplant. He was blessed with almost 23 more years of life. His greatest passions were spending time with his 3 grandchildren and working in his garden. We would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital who showed such great care for him, but especially to everyone in the heart failure clinic including heart transplant /Vad Coordinator Shari Barker who always showed such great compassion and care for our father. We know that there are many who would like to pay their respects but during this very troubling time the family has decided to hold a private service for immediate family at Cropo Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. We appreciate your understanding. Hermenegildo é vivido por sua esposa, Libertina, seu filho Nelson, as filhas Elizabeth e Patrícia (Victor); netos André, Gabriella e Miguel; irmãs Natalia (Domingos), Leontina (Armênia), irmã Maria Berta (Jorge) de Portugal; irmão Delfim (Cremilde) de Portugal; e cunhadas em Portugal; ele também deixa para lamentar suas muitas sobrinhas e sobrinhos. Ele é pré-falecido pelos pais Vitorino Dias e Ana Gestrudes Natalia; irmãos Antonio, Jose e Albano. Hermenegildo nasceu em Loures, Portugal, na pequena cidade de Malhapao, em 18 de setembro de 1946. Ele frequentemente compartilhava memórias encontradas de sua juventude em Portugal, de seu tempo na guerra da Guiné e de trabalhar para a Ucal (empresa de leite de Portugal). Quando voltou da guerra, ele começou sua vida com sua esposa Libertina e logo depois eles receberam um filho Nelson e filha Elizabeth e dez anos depois receberam uma filha Patrícia. Em 1987 eles tomaram a difícil decisão de se mudar para o Canadá para fazer uma vida melhor para eles. Ele sempre foi um trabalhador e se certificou de que sua família sempre foi providenciada. Infelizmente, em 1997, ele enfrentou o que provavelmente foi o momento mais difícil de sua vida ele estava lutando contra a insuficiência cardíaca, felizmente em 20 de abrilde1997 ele recebeu seu transplante de coração. Ele foi abençoado com quase 23 anos de vida. Suas maiores paixões eram passar tempo com seus três netos e trabalhar em seu jardim. Gostaríamos de agradecer aos funcionários do Hospital St. Boniface que mostraram um grande cuidado com ele, mas especialmente a todos na clínica de insuficiência cardíaca, incluindo a coordenadora de transplante de coração /Vad Shari Barker, que sempre demonstrou tanta compaixão e cuidado com nosso pai. Sabemos que há muitos que gostariam de prestar suas homenagens, mas durante este momento muito preocupante a família decidiu realizar um serviço privado para a família imediata na Capela Funerária Cropo na terça-feira, 7 de abril de 2020, às 14h.
