Obituary of WALENTYNA ROGOZIK
WALENTYNA ROGOZIK
On Tuesday March 31, 2020, Walentyna Rogozik (nee Orzel), passed away after a short battle with cancer at the age of 90.
Walentyna was born on December 11, 1929 in Kobryn, Poland to Piotr and Marta Orzel. At the outbreak of World War Two, and the eldest of three daughters, Walentyna and her family fled from Bydgoszcz. Remarkably having survived the war together, her family of five moved to Szczecin, Poland. There she met Jozef Rogozik and they married in August of 1951. They soon had their daughter, Elzbieta and son Jerzy and were able to travel Poland extensively as a family. In 1993 they made the decision to immigrate to Canada to be with their grown children and grandchildren.
After surviving her husband, Walentyna continued to exemplify independence and strength, living an active life with many friends at the Canadian Polish Manor. A master seamstress, she could often be found sewing for friends and family and was never without a dozen pins in her shirt.
Remaining to cherish her memory are her two sisters; Barbara (Les) and Irena, her children; son Jerzy (Arnika), daughter Elzbieta (Waldemar), her two grandchildren; Katarzyna (David) and Anna (Eric), and her four great grandchildren; Ella, Ashley, Parker and Evan. A private mass will be held next week at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church with an Oblate Father presiding. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Parish Cemetery.
We extend thanks to the doctors and nurses from Unit 7 at Seven Oaks General Hospital for the compassion and care you showed Walentyna and the family during her last week of life, especially during this trying time.
“Wieczny odpoczynek racz jej dac Panie.”
