It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Don LeBlanc at the age of 66. He is lovingly remembered and leaves to mourn his wife Heather, of 42 years. His daughters Donna-Lynn (Derek) and Sheri; grandchildren Kagan (Devon), Danielle, Selene, Lucy, Harmony, Misty, Gregory, Desmond and Lacy, 6 great grandchildren, his parents Donna and Joseph LeBlanc, North Sydney, his twin brother David LeBlanc (Charlotte), Kirkfield, Ont., his brothers Paul LeBlanc (Heidi), Toronto, Ont., Kevin LeBlanc, Thompson, MB., his sister Marina (Nick), Fort McMurray, AB, his brother-in-law Erik Tagesen (Evelyne) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Tammy in 1962, his brother Michel 1998, his brother Larry 2009 and his son in law Gregory Dunsford 2013.
Don was born in Toronto in 1953 to Donna and Joseph LeBlanc and spent his time playing hockey with his brothers, baseball and pool. He graduated high school from R.S. McLaughlin Collegiate and Vocational Institute in 1971. After that he worked at the Oshawa Bakery and then started his electrician apprenticeship at Westburne Electric. He moved to Winnipeg and got a job with Winnipeg Hydro in 1974 where he completed trade school and became a Journeyman Electrician in 1981. He retired from Winnipeg Hydro in 2004. Don met his wife in 1975 and they were married in 1977. His first daughter, Donna-Lynn was born in 1978 and Sheri followed in 1980.
Don was a devoted father and an avid bowling. He coached his daughters in Youth Bowling and he became quite the accomplished bowler himself and was drafted by an All-Star League for quite a number of years. He shared his love of bowling with his friends and bowled with his good friend Vic for many years. He liked baseball and played with his friend Vic for a number of seasons as well. He enjoyed collecting sports cards and spending time researching the value of his collection. After he retired, he spent most summers at his retirement property in Bird River.
His first granddaughter, Kagan, was born in 1995 and she stole his heart. When he retired in June, he brought Kagan with him to Bird River and he spent many summers with her swimming, looking for frogs and spending time in the garden. Don will be lovingly remembered for his quirky sense of humor, his love of sports and his willingness to help.
