Obituary of ROGER WAYNE STREWCHUK

ROGER WAYNE STREWCHUK September 18, 1958 – January 15, 2020 It is with extreme sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Roger W. Strewchuk on January 15, 2020. He was devoted to his family and will be immensely missed by his beloved wife and best friend Karen, his daughter Dawn (Dave), son Randy, brother Barry, adored grandchildren Dayna and Deklan and extended family. Roger was predeceased by his parents, George and Marie. Roger was born and raised in Winnipeg and grew up in the West Kildonan area where he met his wife of 40 years. Roger's lifelong love for carpentry and construction was his passion and was employed with Winnipeg School Division for the majority of his career until he retired in 2017. He loved the challenges that carpentry brings and had a knack for creating anything that involved wood and using his tools. He took great pride in the home that he created and loved helping his children with projects in their homes. Summer was his most cherished season where his entire family would come over to enjoy the pool (which he kept pristine), BBQ, listen to music and just having everyone together enjoying each other's company and cracking jokes. Another great joy in his life was the thrill of year-round fishing. Walking in the house with a huge smile, holding the biggest, freshest pickerel for all to enjoy, gave him such happiness. Roger was our rock and he had an enormous impact on our lives. Moving forward without him is unimaginable at this time but with all the many heartfelt and fun-loving memories we have will help us move forward each day, as he would have wanted. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Boniface Hospital or Siloam Mission. Roger, Dad, Gigi, your generosity, your big hugs, your wittiness with that special grin you had when you caught everyone off guard and your great sense of humour will forever be with us in our hearts and memories.
