TARAS DIACHUN

Obituary of TARAS DIACHUN

TARAS DIACHUN It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Taras Diachun, on Thursday, January 16, 2020, at the age of 81 years. Taras is survived by his wife of 44 years, Vicci; his stepson Steven Benstead; his nephews Dan (Luanne) and Mike; and his cousin Alex Dynkavitch (Judy). Taras was predeceased by his parents; his brother Fred and sister-in-law Nadia; and his cousins Harold Dynkavitch and Robert Dynkavitch. After a successful career playing high school football, Taras was invited to try out for the Blue Bombers, but decided his future lay elsewhere. He remained a passionate sports fan, however, cheering on the Bombers (their recent Grey Cup win brought a gleam to his eye) and the Jets through all their ups and downs. He was also a keen-eyed poker player who won many more games than he lost at the monthly poker nights he and his friends took turns hosting for many years. Professionally, Taras enjoyed a long and successful career as a real estate broker and took great pleasure in finding the perfect home for his clients, many of whom became lifelong friends. Taras and Vicci made frequent road trips across Canada and into the U.S. to visits friends, plus numerous visits to England where his warm and generous nature made him an instant hit with Vicci’s family. Christmas held a special place in Taras’s heart, and in his later years he volunteered at the Christmas Cheer Board to bring the spirit of the season to those less fortunate. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the caring staff at Luther Home where Taras lived out the last leg of his well-lived life in comfort. In accordance with the family’s wishes, a private service will be held. Donations in memory of Taras may be made to the charity of your choice.
