ALLAN BRYDGES

Obituary of ALLAN PETER BRYDGES

ALLAN PETER BRYDGES March 5, 1959 – December 22, 2019 Allan Brydges passed away on December 22, 2019 at the age of 60 years at the St. Boniface Hospital, but his larger-than-life persona and trademark friendly greetings and genuine thank you’s will not be forgotten. He was born on March 5, 1959 in Metz, France. He was the youngest son of Hilliard and Betty Brydges. Allan leaves behind his best friend and companion Sweetie, his father, Hilliard (Jeanne), his three siblings Carolyn (Gary), Brenda (Renold) and Colin. Allan loved all of his nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephew but particularly enjoyed the family get togethers where he could talk to all of them. He LOVED and took pride in being known as “GREAT Uncle Allan” or “Godfather”. He was predeceased by his mother Betty Brydges, whom he missed dearly. Affectionately known as Big A by his family and friends, Allan had a zest for life that could only be matched by Fred Flintstone’s “Yabba Dabba Doo” and Scooby-Doo’s love of Scooby Snacks . He loved and collected anything Disney, Cartoons, and most of all Donald Duck – sometimes Allan’s attitude matched that of ‘the duck’ the only difference was that Allan was more inclined to wear pants (unlike the duck). Allan treated shopping like an Olympic sport – and he was a gold medalist. He would shop all through the year for Christmas gifts; if you were ever looking for anything specific, Allan could find it. Allan loved going to movies and was only too happy to have conversations with anyone about which movies he had seen or they had seen. Thank you to the staff at Health Science Center and St. Boniface Palliative Care for their care and compassion to Allan through this difficult time. A special thank you to all the staff (friends) at EPIC, who over the years have been like family to Allan. Thank you for all your support, care and love you have and had shown Allan, he spoke so highly of everyone. A celebration of life will be held for Allan on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to EPIC Opportunities (Empowering People in Community).
