Obituary of THERESIA (THERESA) BECK

THERESIA (THERESA) BECK

January 10, 1935- October 1, 2019

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Theresia (Theresa) Beck, on October 1, 2019, at the age of 84. She was our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all whose lives she touched. With her family by her side, she left us peacefully while battling a rare condition. Predeceased by her mother Barbara Rendl, she leaves behind to mourn her son Joe (Jan) Beck, and daughter Hertha Cooper. Her grandchildren Brittany (Jeff) Therrien, Sydney Beck, Stephen (Leanne) Cooper, David Cooper, and great grandchildren Brantley Therrien, and Bennett, and Sloan Cooper.

Born in Yugoslavia, she married Konrad Beck in Austria in 1953. During the war, they immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg where they bought a small home with land to start farming. She was never a stranger to hard work. In addition to farming, Theresa lived a full life, not only as a wonderful mother, and homemaker, she was also a seamstress in the manufacturing/retail sector. She loved to cook, bake, and was so good at it. She kept a perfect garden and had a green thumb. They often entertained and she would make everything from scratch, all while keeping an immaculate house. When she did find some free time, she mastered knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint, but her greatest joy of all was being Oma. Until kindergarten, along with the other grandparents, they shared babysitting duties so that the kids didn’t require daycare. She took great pleasure in attending their dance recitals, sports, and graduations. She was so proud of all of them and their accomplishments and took every opportunity to be with them whenever possible.

Later in life she met her special partner Ivan Pisker who sadly passed away in January 2019. They shared so many fond memories travelling, weekly outings to go bowling, playing cards, long walks in the park, and entertaining with family and friends. Theresa missed Ivan terribly and was lost without him. They always spoke about leaving together and she always wanted to be with him. “Mom, you are now reunited together again”!

She will be dearly missed and forever cherished in our hearts. A special thank you to all of the doctors and nurses at HSC Emergency and the High Observation Unit for comforting her, your care, and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Theresa’s memory to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2528 King Edward St.,
Winnipeg, MB. R3C 2E6
