Obituary of VIOLET CHRISTINA LENORA RODGERS
VIOLET CHRISTINA LENORA RODGERS
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Violet (Me Me) Rodgers Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at the age of 99 years.
She has now joined her parents Adora & Joseph, brothers Ulric & Austin, sister Gladys & son Dale. Left to cherish her memory are her brother Rupert Evans, daughters Urlene and Nadine, grandchildren Ryan(Nailini), Tessia, Keoné, Violet and Neveaha as well as many beloved friends and extended family.
Violet, fondly known as Meme was born in Nevis, West Indies and migrated to Antigua where
She obtained her nursing degree. She practiced her profession in Antigua before travelling to Trinidad to expand her nursing career. She eventually moved to Winnipeg, MB with her son Dale just in time to experience one of the worst blizzards in MB history which was on her birthday.
Everyone who knew Violet knew of her intense love for children and she eventually moved on to become the Supervisor of the Children’s Day Hospital at Mount Carmel Clinic for over 20 years until her retirement. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her many cherished friends.
Violet was a woman of strong faith and was a member & elder of St. Johns Presbyterian Church for many years.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all those who have had the privilege to have known her.
The family would like to thank the Home Care staff as well as the staff on the 3rd floor of Seven Oaks Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion shown to our mother and grandmother MeMe.
Celebration of Life to be held on Wednesday, August 28 at 11:00 a.m., at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 251 Bannerman Ave.
