1915-2019

 

We are deeply saddened for the passing of our Mother & Baba, Anne Lacomy at 104 years old on May 29, 2019 at Holy Family Home.

 

Mom was born in Sarto Manitoba on March 10, 1915

 

Mom is survived by her two daughters, Marilyn (Boris) Nazarewich & Nadia (Lanyon) Lind. Grandchildren, Tanis (Cam) Bennet, Donna (Craig) Waslenko. Cathy (Dean) Gatin, Theresa (Chris) Vlachos. Great- Grandchildren: Tanner & Alexa Bennet, Kiara Waslenko, Hillary & Cassidy Gatin, Christina (Octavio) Santos, Doug (Stephanie) Vlachos : Great-Great Grandchildren, Eva, Chloe, & Adriano Santos. Also, cousins, nieces, & nephews.

 

Anne was predeceased by her husband, Paul, in 1991, her father, Anthony Rekrut ,in 1916, her mother, Ksenia in 1980, Michael Kowalchuk, & Hryhory Block in 1962, brother, Fred Rekrut, sisters, Sonia Pelleck & Olga Krepakevich

 

Mom was a lifelong member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Mary the Protectress. Also a member of the Ukrainian Women's Association of Canada.

 

Mom acted in plays, operetta's, sang in the church choir, was a soloist at weddings, was a member of the Boyan choir & the O, Koshetz choir. Anne was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice.

Mom bowled with the Reliance Bowling League at Cooper Mosienko Bowling Alley, followed by a snack at Kelekis Restaurant.

 

Mom was a seamstress, worked at Ukrainian Voice, volunteered at Holy Family Home, participated at perogy making at the church .Mom made beautiful decorated paska's . She loved the competition playing the game of scrabble with family & friends.

 

Mom loved her flower and vegetable garden.

 

Mom loved her winters in Arizona, summers in Victoria Beach, & the farm in Sarto Manitoba. She travelled to the Ukraine in 2000, Hawaii, & Florida, & California.

 

On December 24, 2015 Mom entered the last chapter of her life when she moved to Holy Family Home. She enjoyed the last years of her life to the fullest. She truly enjoyed what Holy Family had to offer. The Family, thanks Dr. Taras Babick, Dr. Andrea Babick, the nursing staff, health care aids & housekeeping staff of St Mary's unit for making her home as comfortable as possible. Also, a huge thank you to the ladies at her dining table for being her friends.

 

Funeral Service will be celebrated on Monday, June 3 2019 at 2:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel at 1442 Main St. with interment to follow at Glen Eden Cemetery, 4477 Main St,. West St. Paul with Father Alexander Harkavyi officiating.
