I was sorry to hear of Auntie Jean's passing. Condolences to Ray, Dennis and Orysia.
I wish I could have seen more of Auntie Jean (and you all) since moving in 2001.
She holds a special place in my heart. Always smiling, she loved having family over to your Manitoba home. And it was there that I witnessed a number of firsts...it was there that we watched our first colour television image (I think Dennis won it?).....witnessing my brother Tom eat more of Auntie Jean's incredible pyroghi than I thought was humanly possible....and hearing the thunderstorm outside and the thunderstorm inside the night before we buried Gigi. Could have been the CC but Uncles Mike and Wally and our Dad sure were loud.
How can I best sum up my love for Auntie Jean? The pride she had in her family and the pride she had in her cooking made me understand what was important and steadying, and what was ephemeral. We were so fortunate to have grown up in those times...we had little in the way of material things, but we knew that all that glitters is not gold. And we so fortunate to have known and be loved by Auntie Jean.
It's not possible for me to be in Winnipeg for the funeral, but I will be saying a prayer for our wonderful, special, and loved Auntie Jean.
