Obituary of NAN (Annie Sigurdson Forsyth) ELFENSON
NAN (Annie Sigurdson Forsyth) ELFENSON
1927-2019
NAN, age 91, peacefully died Sunday morning April 28 in Misericordia Place in the company of her nieces. Born December 31, 1927, in Eriksdale MB to Annie and John Forsyth, Nan was the youngest in a close family of six children. Nan loved her family and was actively involved in their lives.
A city gal at heart Nan, lived most of her 52 years of marriage with her dear Len in East Kildonan. Nan worked for Eaton’s in accounting and then for Rudolph Furriers as an administrative assistant. Nan was a loyal friend, confidant and care giver. She loved music: big band, jazz, the pops, male crooners and she was especially proud of her singer grandniece, Heitha Forsyth (Sol James). Nan had a good sense of humour, loved to laugh, and tell stories. She was an accomplished hostess and loved to host events for family and friends. She enjoyed baking and with her attention to detail she made and presented food beautifully.
Nan was predeceased by her husband, Len, her parents, a special Aunt Emma (her mother’s twin), siblings and their spouses: Margaret (Larry) Whitney and Emma (John) Mills, John, Jim and Art (Gladys) Forsyth; Len’s siblings: Elizabeth and Sam; Nieces and nephews: Cheryl Poirier, Lynn Boss, Allan Forsyth, Larry Whitney.
Nan is survived by three sisters-in-law, Kay (Jim) Forsyth, Iris (John) Forsyth and Angela (Sam) Elfenson and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Sincere thanks for the compassionate care given to Nan at Misericordia Interim Care, and especially to Misericordia Place 2nd floor for understanding who she was before her illness and to Dr. Brent Young, her physician and Christine Hayden, pharmacist, Brathwaite’s Pharmacy, for their caring support during her increasing challenges.
A service will be held Thursday, May 16, 2 pm, Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Flowers are gratefully declined. For those who wish, a tribute in Nan’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice or Allan Forsyth Memorial Foundation, c/o Sandy Heroux, Eriksdale MB R0C 0W0.
