Our deepest sympathies to Bill, Rustyn and Brandyn and families.
We will always remember Debbie's spirit for life and her humour and her steadfast loyalty to her family.
I first met Debbie through the beginnings of the establishment of the French Immersion Program at H. C. Avery. We as young parents were so enthusiastic and a determined group to ensure that the program would survive and be successful. Debbie jumped in wholeheartedly and was involved with so many projects and events that took place at the school.
Through our connection with school, we became friends and Rustyn and our son, Shaun became friends through their many sports endeavors, especially hockey. We have many good memories of meeting up at the rinks and watching, chatting, laughing and cheering on the 'boys'.
I remember Debbie calling me one day and asking me for my opinion on her applying for a job at the Sears store in Garden City. She was hesitant about applying and didn't think she had enough 'experience' in order to be hired. I suggested that she include in her resume all the experiences and knowledge and organizational skills that she acquired throughout her time with being involved at the school. That those were important just as much as anyone else who had an actual 'paying' job. Sometime later Debbie called me and told me that she had been hired. She was so excited.
Over time our paths changed, but every so often we managed to get together over various dinners at restaurants with our spouses and children and we always had a great time, with good discussions, laughs.
Thank you for inviting us to Brandyn's wedding, we had a wonderful time.
Thank you for including us in your life, Debbie.
Sincerely Audrey, Bob, Jennifer and Shaun McWilliams

I was so sorry when I read the paper and saw that Debbie had passed away. I still carry her phone number in my wallet but the years went by and life got in the way of making that call. I really enjoyed working with Debbie at Sears. We had a lot of fun in those days and I can still see her running that department and never letting Sears down. Bill, Children and Grandchildren I hope you can take comfort in knowing how much Debbie loved all of you. She always put her family first in life. I will always carry those special memories that I have from working with Debbie at Sears. May you rest in peace Debbie. We all know how much you will be missed.
I am sorry we won't be able to make the service but know that we will be thinking of you on Thursday.
Please accept our Deepest Sympathy.
Sincerely Lucy and Dan O'Connell
