Obituary of Brian Milton Chegus

Brian Milton Chegus

It’s with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of our father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, Brian Milton Chegus on April 15, 2019.

Family who will cherish his memories are: son and daughter-in-law Daniel and Melanie Chegus, daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Jonathan Robinson, daughter and son-in-law Meghan and Chris Esau, grandchildren Noah, Lisa, Emily, Alice, Sara, Savannah, and Kennedy, brothers and sisters Margaret, Larry, Milli, Steve, Marilyn, Gwen, Patty, Shelley, Nadia, Donald, and Victor.  Brian has joined his brothers and sisters Leonard, Terry, Iris, Walter, Rose, and Ann, and his parents to live peacefully in Heaven.

Brian was born in Vista Manitoba, where he enjoyed spending time with his family and helping out on the farm.  This is where he met and married his wife Peggy.   They moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Brian started his career at Co-op and started a family.  He loved spending time with his children at the cabin, going hunting and fishing, getting deals on chickens, negotiating better prices at Superstore, and going on long trips.

Brian moved to Watson, SK in 1993 where he bought a home and started working with his brother Larry at Chegus RV, one of the highlights of his life.  He was a hands on man and could fix anything.  He loved having his children visit and lived life to the fullest, spending time playing cards, enjoying bubblies with Donny, doing puzzles, collecting old vehicles, and sleeping in.

Brian retired in 2001 and spent years travelling spending time with family, renovating, fishing, hunting, cheering on the Rough Riders, and making fun of the Bombers and Jets.  He was very proud that he was from “Friendlier Saskatchewan” and loved sporting a Saskatchewan license plate.

His real home was his cabin in Miami Beach where he would spend the summer with his grandchildren.  He loved to bbq, swim, sit on the deck, play games, go to Tinkertown, watch the news, and talk on the phone with family and friends.

He loved interacting with strangers, joking around, eating at Chinese food buffets, playing bingo, and listening to the oldies.  He was an amazing man who had the talent of never being on time but ensuring things were always done “quicklier”.  Brian was a man you could depend on to be there when you needed something at the drop of a hat and was well known for his selfless and giving personality.  His family was the most important thing to him, and he spent his life trying to show them how much he cared.  He never once looked for sympathy and was always willing to “lend a hand”.

A funeral will be held on Thursday, April 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street.  This will be following by interment at the Transcona Cemetery, 5014 Dugald Rd.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations on behalf of Brian to the War Amps.
