HELENE MARIE ROSE LITTLE

Obituary of HELENE MARIE ROSE LITTLE

HELENE MARIE ROSE LITTLE (NEE CHAMBERLAND) After a two-year battle with cancer, we regret to inform you of the passing of Helene Marie Rose Little (nee Chamberland) of Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 6, 2012 at the age of 80 at St. Boniface Hospital, palliative care unit. Mom was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Jeanne, her husband Ross, brothers Tony, Allan and Victor, grandson Joey and son-in-law Jerry. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sandy, Bob (Janet), Bill (Lucille), Brenda, Karen (Jeff) and Kim (Dennis). She also leaves behind 9 siblings, Anita, Rodolph (Gladys), Liliane, Leo (Martha), Annette, Florence (Ron), Charles (Mariann), Edouard (Jackie) and Daniel. Helene also leaves behind in-laws Charlie, Irene, Blanche and Esther along with 18 grandchildren: Ron, Cheri, Bobby, Amanda, Tanya, Trish, Tom, Terri, Christie, James, Donny, Jeremy, Bill, Jessica (Greg), Jackie, Joshua and Justin and 13 great-grandchildren. Helene was born November 9, 1931 in St. Genevive, Manitoba. She married Ross in 1949 in Winnipeg and had her first child Sandy in 1950 during the Winnipeg flood. Shortly afterwards, Helene and Ross moved to Northern Ontario to raise their family of 6 children. She lived in Virginiatown, Dobie and Larder Lake Ontario. Helene spent about 30 years of her life in Ontario and loved every minute of it. She worked in the Annex in Kirkland Lake along with her daughter Brenda as a nurse. In 1979, Helene, Ross and the family moved back to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Helene began to work full time first at Silpit as a seamstress making winter coats and then as a LPN for Holy Family Nursing Home. Mom retired in 1990 to take care of her husband. She had the kindest heart and was always the first to help out with anything. She was a firm believer in the resurrection hope as indicated at John 5:28 & 29. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 60 years, she took every opportunity to tell people of this wonderful hope. Helene was always found at meetings at the Kingdom Hall and regularly out in the ministry. She had the pioneer spirit and put many hours in service, especially after her husband passed away. Helene could make friends easily with her smile and her personality that always lit up the room. Many say that when they close their eyes and think of Helene, the first thing they see is her smiling face. Music was a big part of her family and one of her favorite songs was "Burning Memories". While working around the house, she would hum or sing this song to herself many times. Well Helene, your memories are lasting and we have nothing to burn. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of the St. Boniface Palliative Care unit. Your patience and kindness toward her and our family was appreciated beyond words. A big thank you to the many visitors she received; this meant very much to both her and the family. One of the last things that she said to us was "this is not good-bye, just good night…" Mom, we will truly miss you. A void is left in our hearts. We are looking forward to seeing you again in Jehovah’s new order. Enjoy your sleep because it won’t be very long! A viewing will take place Thursday, October 11th from 6:30 pm– 8:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 12th at 7:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 937 Gateway Road, Winnipeg, MB.
