Obituary of ENAYAT NASSAR
Enayat (Annie) Nassar
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Enayat (Annie) Nassar. Auntie Annie was born in Cairo, Egypt on June 18th, 1930 and passed away peacefully on March 19th, 2019 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Annie will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephew (or her kids as she loved to call them), Mark (Adriana), Nadine (Jordan), Tara (Carl), Nicky (David), Adam (Lisa) and her great nieces and nephew, Jenna, Laura, Ryan, Madison and Ashley, as well as her sister-in-law Melba. She will also be missed by her extended family (Doyle and Hunt) here in Winnipeg and her cherished friends from across the world. Annie was predeceased by her parents, Zeinab and Abdul, brother, Dr. Atef Nassar and her sons Atef, Hani and Moody.
Annie dedicated her life to teaching and was still teaching in her retired years. She would take any opportunity to teach people French. She was a true life-long learner. She was adamant with keeping up with technology. She recently taught her self Spanish through an app and was a big fan of Facebook because it allowed her to stay in touch with her friends around the world and her students from all her years of teaching. Auntie Annie was always proud of her Egyptian heritage and travelled back to Egypt many times to visit friends and family, following her immigration to Canada in 1991. Auntie Annie’s favourite thing was spending time with family. She had a great sense of humour and always had her family and friends laughing. She will be remembered for many of these things and more and of course her favourite phrase: Oh La La!
The funeral for Annie will be held at the Grand Mosque 2445 Waverly St., on Friday, March 22nd at 1:30pm, interment to follow at Glen Lawn Funeral and Cemetery, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd.
