Obituary of DOUGLAS HADDEN

DOUGLAS HADDEN

1943-2019

Peacefully, but unexpectedly, on February 27, 2019, Douglas, beloved husband of Pat, passed at St. Boniface Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

Doug is lovingly remembered by his children, Kathy, Deanna (Dustin), Darren (Crystal) and his precious grandson, William.  Fondly remembered by brothers, Earl (Betty), Jackie (Myrna), Stan, Raymond (Lorraine) and sister, Delores (Pat).  As well, sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Alex), Nancy (Ernie), Joan (Norm), Donna (Donnie) and brothers-in- law, Doug and Bruce (Laurie), numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Predeceased by his parents, Wallace & Violet, mother-in-law, Mabel McCorrie, brothers, Norman and Bob and sister, Audrey.

Doug’s welding trade spanned over a 40-year period, retiring in 2002 from the City of Winnipeg Hydro.  He continued to use these skills as he pursued a much-loved hobby involving the fabrication and installation of turbochargers and intercoolers in sports cars.  Along the way, he made many friends who looked up to him and stood in admiration of his excellent work.

Doug was a loving and dedicated family man who enjoyed and helped his kids and friends with multiple tasks.  He was Pat’s soulmate for 52 years and will be sorely missed.  For the past 6 years, he looked forward to spending time with his special little grandson William.  Doug referred to William as Nick and William affectionately called Doug “Gia”.

As well as being a perfectionist, Doug enjoyed a lifetime exercising with weights, walking on the treadmill as well as in the country with his canine friends, Win & Deeze, and being super vigilant with his diet.

Until we meet again, my love, rest in peace with our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 6 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street, Transcona, followed by interment at Transcona Cemetery.  Prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 5 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street.

The family wishes to thank the Doctors and Nursing staff at St. Boniface Hospital ICMS for their extraordinary care and compassion in ensuring Doug’s well-being and comfort.  Special accolades to Jolene for her “above and beyond”, sincere, loving care.  A heartfelt thanks to family friend, Rhonda for all her knowledge, support and care.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doug’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or to St. George’s Anglican Church, 321 Pandora Ave West, Transcona.
