Mary Elaine Hammerling (nee Sitarz) December 8, 1931 – February 5, 2019. It is with great sadness our family wishes to announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Mary Hammerling on February 5th at the age of 87 years.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Anthony in 1992, parents Anthony and Maria Sitarz, brothers Casmir, Walter, John, Edward, Charles and sisters Kay and Frances.
Left to cherish her memory she will be lovingly remembered by her children Cheryl (Ryan), Debbie (Calvin), Karen (John), Mark (Elfriede), grandchildren Nicole, Tassie (Scott), Sascha (Dwayne), Magdalen, Amanda (Danny), Matthew, Peter, Aaron, Melanie, Amelia, Tobias, Jimmy, Ashley, Caleb, Anthony and Chloe, and great-grandchildren Rylan, Dwanasha, Harrison, Hunter and Georgia. Mary is survived by sister Anne (Mike) Lucko, brothers Tony (Pat) Sitarz, Joe (Beverley) Sitarz, Sr. Mary Rose Hammerling, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Mary will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother with her passion for caring for home and family. Being part of a large loving family was part of Mary’s legacy. She adored and derived great joy from her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to celebrate special occasions, cook wonderful dinners, and enjoyed our traditional family gatherings. Mary had a strong faith and was a longtime parishioner of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church. The way in which she touched our lives will remain with us forever. The family would like to express gratitude to the staff of the River East Personal Care home for their care and compassion extended to our mother. Mary was treated with so much love, kindness and respect. It truly was her second home.
